A Fair Price
Too many fiber artist do not charge enough for their highly skilled and valuable work. This calculator serves as a baseline for determining a minimum price. You may need to adjust, depending on your area, market or the venue where you sell.
I suggest the minimum hourly rate for skilled labor should be no less than $20.
Be sure to accurately calculate the time it took to research patterns, develop drafts, source materials, set up your loom, wind, cakes and skeins, etc.
The minimum markup should be no less than 100% this would be sufficient for wholesale.
If this is your full-time living, I recommend a markup of 300 to 400% for retail. This makes sure that you are covering the cost of utilities, marketing, travel, website hosting, consignment, fees, etc.
